Workshops
Guiding and signalling in language development
Kentalis - Anneke van Tiel - Meeuwis
The workshop gives you insight into normal speech-language development in young children and how to spot abnormal speech-language development. How do you discuss your concerns with parents and in what way can you cooperate with Kentalis in guiding children with suspected TOS (language development disorder).
Looking at behaviour
Nul23 -Kristin Gerritsen
Working traumasensitively requires courage (boldness), constant closeness (engagement), being able -without knowing the specific backgrounds- to look broadly at a child in order to respond with skill. The child with the most misunderstood behaviour, needs you the most! Every pedagogical staff member knows them: the children with nasty, annoying, difficult, complicated, negative behaviour. One day the child reacts in way X, the next day in way Y. It feels as if the child has it in for you... It takes guts to commit yourself every time to a child that needs your calmness, closeness and open mind. Because it is precisely these children, with the most difficult behaviour, that need you as an inspired professional to offer the boundaries that lead to safety, based on inspiration and open-mindedness.
In this workshop, you gain insight into (possible) causes of the misunderstood behaviour and learn to look at the child differently. Subsequently, you will know how to be there for this child on the basis of your professionalism. You get concrete tools on how to handle undesirable behaviour more skillfully. In this way, you offer safety within which a child can develop further.
Sign language with children
Het gouden gebaar - Aranka van Woersem
Would you like to communicate more easily with the children in your group? Join this workshop!
Children can sign much earlier than they can speak, as signing is easier to understand and produce. By supporting language with signs, you can understand children more quickly, engage in conversations earlier, and reduce frustration. This makes language even more fun for both the child and the adult!
During the workshop, you will learn over 60 basic signs that you can immediately use with children aged 0 to 12. We will also practice forming sentences, having short conversations, and singing songs. Curious? Join us!
Please note: Did you participate in the "Signing with Your Child" workshop at the baby event? You are still very welcome, but this is the same beginner’s workshop.
Watching, understanding, growing: Effective observation and developmental work with children
Petra vd Westen & Lavinia Boezeman
"Observe, Understand, Grow" is a powerful way to express that the foundation of effective pedagogical work lies in carefully observing children, understanding their unique developmental levels and needs, and tailoring a stimulating range of activities accordingly.
In this workshop, we aim to inspire you as a professional and provide you with practical tips and tricks to apply in your work.
Show your colours
Verander Krachtig - Clemy Coolen
Every person is unique. You work with various characters on the shop floor work floor. With some you click immediately and one word is enough. But there are sometimes colleagues who can cause annoyance because they act so differently from how you would do it. During the workshop ‘confessing colours’ you get to know different behavioural preferences. Using four colours, you gain insight into your preferred style and learn what the other colours bring to a team. So a practical session in which you gain insight into different preferred styles. Handy to know about each other in collaboration!
Research and design learning
Het Breinbureau - Jan van der Zwan
Young discoverers : Investigative and Design Learning (OOL)
Children are naturally very curious about the world around them: they can therefore be excited about investigating or designing things from an early age. And this is often much more fun than it sounds! The earlier toddlers and preschoolers understand their environment, the more familiar they will feel with the world around them later on. During the workshop, Jan van der Zwan will answer the following questions, among others:
-What is the difference between inquiry-based and design-based learning?
-Why is OOL especially good for young children?
-In what different ways can I stimulate OOL?
-How can I use my didactic skills to their best advantage?
-What are the do´s and dont´s of OOL?
-Can the language-deficient children in my group also use OOL?
-Where do I get my inspiration?
Parents and You
Annemarie van Geerenstein & Maike Flohil-Valk
How do you involve parents in childcare? Parents differ from each other and want to be involved with their child and the childcare centre. Parents today communicate differently than a few years ago and norms and values differ. How can we respond well to this and work together as equal partners in parenting? During this workshop, we will reflect on this and provide tools to get started. High parental involvement contributes to the optimal development of children and that is what we work on together!
GGD? Time to shine
Aniek Meijer & Diana Vredenbregt
A workshop on self-confidence, equality and professional contact with the GGD.
Activities for babies: Interaction without words
Kleintje Kunst
Kleintjekunst brings art close to young children! We work from the philosophy that young children learn by experiencing, with their whole body, all their senses, interacting with their environment. What materials do you need for this, how do you create a play environment? How do you start? How to arouse curiosity and how to activate with your own body language, facial expressions and sounds the babies' play?
Meldcode: how to become an Uncle Dik or Aunt Ger
Stichting Praat
Uncle Dik and Aunt Ger are the aunt and uncle of Ted Kloosterboer, director of Praat Foundation. As Ted himself herself says, these aunt and uncle saved her life. Not by stopping the abuse she was a victim of, but by loving her unconditionally, truly hearing and seeing her. This attention and support have made a world of difference to Ted. Every child (and every adult) needs someone to see and hear them. Someone who is trustworthy. During the workshop, participants will gain insight into how insecurity affects children's development.
But most of all, participants will gain insight into how to be a trustworthy adult themselves. What does that require? What should you do for that? Or what exactly should you not do for it?
Challenging behaviour? Make it your challenge!
Anne-Joke Schut, Milou Collé-Floor & Annika van der Made
In this workshop, we look beyond behavior itself. What exactly is challenging behavior? What underlying needs drive it? How does it affect you? And most importantly, what role can you take as a professional in handling challenging behavior?
Dealing with a change in a child's life. What does that require of you as a pm'er?
Georgette Boehmer & Linda Vullers
The aim of this workshop is to give pedagogical professionals knowledge and skills in how to deal with life-events in the lives of the children in your group. Different events can have an impact on a child. How can you best support a child in this from your Vaardig attitude? What role do you play as an adult when children experience a life event and what can you offer or do concretely?

Play as key, from stimulus to playfulness
Deborah Itherson & Vallery Nieuwenhuis
Children at play... it looks so simple. But play gives children the space to explore, discover, and experiment—in other words, to gain experiences that help them grow cognitively, socially-emotionally, and physically.
Did you know that, as a pedagogical professional, you play a crucial role in guiding children's play—even during free play? In this workshop, we will explore exactly what that role entails. We will connect theory to practical tips that you can easily apply in your group.
